Teaching the community how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity. As a sponsor of aquatics programs, you join us in the belief that swimming is a life skill. Knowing how to be safe around water is one of the most important life skills we can teach our children. It gives them confidence and can save their lives. Using evidence-based curriculum, Y Swim Lessons are designed to teach adults and children basic water safety skills, while also introducing a family educational component that reinforces learning at home. Students who complete our Safety Around Water series can go on to complete our Healthy Lifestyle series, join the swim team, and even go on to become certified lifeguards. The Berkshire Family YMCA’s swimming and water safety programs give us a chance to connect and build bridges with and among people of all dimensions of diversity, giving them access to spaces where they may not have felt included otherwise.
