Camp Sumner is the Berkshire Family YMCA’s traditional summer program experience for children entering Grades 1–8. Held at Berkshire Community College’s Paterson Field House in Pittsfield, Camp Sumner gives kids a safe, active, and engaging place to build friendships, grow confidence, learn teamwork, and make lasting summer memories.

Running from June 29 through August 21, 2026, Camp Sumner offers 8 one-week sessions filled with outdoor play, recreation, creative activities, swimming, team-building, and themed weekly adventures. Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with before care from 7:00–8:30 a.m. and after care from 4:30–5:30 p.m. available with pre-registration.

Campers are grouped by age so the experience stays fun, supportive, and developmentally appropriate. From younger campers just beginning their camp journey to older youth building leadership skills through the Leaders in Training experience, every age group enjoys a balance of structured activities, choice, and summer fun.

Each week brings a different theme, including Community Heroes, Spirit Week, Sports & Play, Art Enrichment, STEAM Week, Fitness & Fun, Color Wars, and an End of Summer Celebration. These themes help shape games, crafts, special events, and camp-wide activities throughout the summer.

Camp Sumner is designed to keep children moving, exploring, creating, and connecting. Campers enjoy a dynamic mix of swimming, field games, arts and crafts, sports, team-building activities, special guests, and field trips, all led by trained staff in a caring and encouraging environment.

Berkshire Family YMCA is committed to providing a strong and safe summer program experience. Our summer program follows Massachusetts Department of Public Health supervision standards, includes certified lifeguards for swim time, and has trained staff prepared to respond to health and safety needs throughout the day.

Camp tuition is $205 per camper, per week, and the YMCA accepts full vouchers, partial vouchers with parent fee, and offers financial assistance for eligible families.
