To our BFYMCA community:

In response to Governor Bakers announcement this evening, March 15, 2020, banning large groups over 25 people in a facility, with the exception to childcare, the Berkshire Family YMCA will be closing the Pittsfield and Northern Berkshire fitness centers and pools to members starting on Tuesday, March 17. The Bennington Rec Center will close March 16-April 6, in accordance with directive from Vermont Governor Scott.

We feel that our childcare, school-age childcare, and supervised visits programs are essential to our community at this time, and will remain open.  In order to mitigate the exposure, all children and families will be screened prior to participating in the program. We will be using the screening process recommended by the community health department.

Childcare hours of operation: 6:30AM-5:30PM

  • Taconic Childcare is Closed. Participants are welcome to attend the Pittsfield Branch Program

School-Age Hours of operation: 6:30AM-6PM

  • Spots are limited at the Pittsfield Branch and pre-registration is highly encouraged.

All programs are canceled or postponed until after the ban is lifted on April 7. Please note that this date is subject to change based on the recommendation of our government officials.

In uncertain times like these, we must be there for one another. The effects will be far reaching and, in response, we all need to think sensibly and empathetically. By following the latest trusted science and leading with our hearts, we will get through this together. Please be patient as we continue to determine next steps. Please work together with our Y and community, so we may continue to serve you now and in the future.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Jessica Rumlow
