Exciting news! Our Pittsfield and Northern Berkshire branches are opening Wednesday, July 8 !

We missed you! It’s been hard to be away from the people we care about but thank you for persevering and doing your part to stay safe and stop the spread of coronavirus. The way we’ll interact with each other will be different, but at the Y, you’ll always be able to connect with people, improve your health and wellness, nurture your children’s potential and help strengthen our community. We’re doing everything possible to ensure our facility meets the highest standards for hygiene and safety, and we have modified our policies and programs to facilitate safe physical/social distancing practices. We can't wait to say Hello, again ... and again ... and again ... and again!

Important Things to Note*:

*This is not inclusive of all changes since you were in the building last. Please be patient with us as plans are developed, guidance changes, and so do our plans. Health and safety is our priority! We will be using a phased approach to ease into offering all of our services.

Expect Reduced Capacity

RESPECT: I will be respectful of my fellow members by only reserving pool time that I can commit to while also leaving spots for fellow swimmers.

Members will scan their barcode to check in upon entering and scan their barcode to check out upon exit. Depending on the traffic throughout the building, you may be asked to check in and out of the fitness and pool areas.

The building is restricted to 40% capacity with additional guidance to limit the number of people in one space.

Massachusetts Pools: Pool time MUST BE RESERVED in 1-hour increments. Pool access will be limited to one person per lane for a maximum of 1-hour. Aqua aerobics and other water fitness classes will not be available during Step 1. Pool reservations will open Tuesday, July 7 at 10AM for week-ending July 12. Each week, reservations will open on Friday for the following week. An email with pool rules and reservation details will come your way on Monday, July 6.

Only active members 13 years and older will be allowed to enter the building in Step 1. No day/guest passes, complimentary or partnership guests. Silver Sneakers card holders may use the facility by following the same processes as our Y members.

Our Massachusetts Child Care program will be open to registered families for ages up through 12 years old for the summer. No traditional camp this year.

YMCA Nationwide Membership is on hold at this time.

Keep Your Distance

CARING: I will care for myself and others by practicing social distancing of 6 feet whenever possible.

Respect all signs regarding social distancing and foot traffic direction.

Stay at least six feet away from others wherever possible.

Look for floor markers for proper placement in shared fitness spaces, transition areas and Welcome Center.

Massachusetts: Ladies Locker Room accessible for bathroom-use only by all men and women during Step 1. Changing stalls available.

Group fitness classes will be by reservation only. No drop ins. Stay tuned for registrations to open in Step 1.

All key-coded doors will have new codes that can be requested from the front desk by members.

Pittsfield Men's Health Club (MHC) locks have been changed and a new key system in place. MHC is closed in Step 1.

If you have items in a locker that you would like to get, you can make the request to the Welcome Center and you will be escorted in and out of the locker room.

Saunas and steam rooms are closed.

Some Cardio and Nautilus machines will be clearly marked out of use to maintain proper social distancing.

Wipe Down Equipment

RESPONSIBILITY: I will be responsible by wiping down all equipment before and after use.

Y staff will follow a strict cleaning and disinfecting schedule 24 hours per day.

Members can access the cleaning materials provided.

Members must wipe equipment before and after your workout.

Allow yourself more time than usual to enter and exit the facility.

In the fitness center, you will see a system to indicate what machines are clean and ready to use and what is not to be used.

Fitness attendants will clean machines in-between uses.

Free weights and bars/plates are not available in Step 1.

No Y swim or workout accessories will be loaned to members in Step 1 - yoga mats, kettle bells, work out balls, kick boards, etc.

Bring Your Mask

RESPONSIBILITY: I will be responsible by wearing a mask or face covering when I am in common areas.

The Y requests that members wear their masks in transition areas (ie: halls, stairwells, Welcome Center, in-between machines in fitness center, etc.)

Staff are required to wear masks.

Limit the items you carry into the facility.

Bring your water. Water fountains are closed.

No towel service.

Stay Home if You're Sick

HONESTY: I will be honest about how I feel and keep others safe by staying home when I am not feeling well.

Our staff, members, and children participating in child care are encouraged to stay home if they're sick.

Prior to entering the facility for the first time, you will be asked to sign a waiver of liability and membership agreement. You may do this in advance or at the Welcome Center.

Upon entering the facility for each shift, Y staff will be asked questions about their current health status and exposure to COVID-19.

Wash Your Hands

CARING: I will care for myself and others by washing or sanitizing my hands often and for at least 20 seconds.

We are reducing touch points to reduce cross-contamination.

We are moving toward a paperless environment, therefore most forms you may have filled out in the past are either digital and available on our website or have been eliminated altogether.

Wash your hands frequently.

Hand washing and +60% Ethanol hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the building identified with signage for easy access and use.

We will not be taking cash for payment in Step 1. Put a credit card or bank draft information on file in Daxko.
