The Y: We’re for Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.

At Berkshire Family YMCA summer day camp and summer programs, kids can develop skills, self-confidence, new friendships, and a sense of belonging – all while having tons of fun. From games and sports to arts and crafts to outdoor adventures to science and technology, the BFYMCA camp and summer program experiences offer kids the chance to learn new things and enjoy new adventures. In order to have fun and thrive, kids need to feel both physically and emotionally safe. When you drop your child off at a Y day camp or summer program, you can rest assured that their total well-being will be nurtured and supported by caring Y staff who are committed to ensuring that their experience is a great one. We’ve adapted our programs to meet CDC, state, and local safety recommendations to help keep kids safe from COVID-19. Summer at the Y allows kids the space to grow stronger and more confident in a safe, nurturing environment. Our camp and summer program experiences teach essential leadership and social skills and helps kids build character and develop confidence and independence. Vouchers accepted at our Pittsfield and Northern Berkshire locations in Massachusetts. Financial assistance is available for families who need it to ensure that all kids in our community can have enriching summer experiences. Spots are limited this year and will fill up fast, so reserve your spot today!

Why choose the Y for your child's best summer ever?

Kids will make new friendships, develop decision-making and problem-solving skills, learn about team building and much more! We provide parents with peace of mind knowing that their children are safe, having fun and learning new lifelong skills. The staff are CORI checked and participate in extensive training including First Aid and CPR, and our lifeguards are certified. In addition, the health care administrator is on-site daily. Camp Sumner and Abenaki Summer Program participants must have active Y membership.

Our Goal:

At BFYMCA Summer Day Camps, caring professional role models create experiences that help youth build character, gain confidence, and learn friendship skills. All of our Y Summer Day Camps instill the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into every activity, every day.

  • Caring: Considerate to the feelings of others
  • Respect: Treating others, the environment and yourself with dignity
  • Honesty: Being trustworthy and truthful
  • Responsibility: Accepting accountability for your actions and role in the community

Camp Activities: S.T.E.A.M., Swim, and Sports

Activities may include field trips, studying fossils, nature, weather, astronomy, dance, music and talent shows! Hands-on lessons focusing on science experiments creating volcanoes, galaxies in a bottle, exploring engineering using circuit boards, Legos and tower building with environmental resources. Our Leaders in Training (LIT) campers will lead an environmental-based Community Outreach Project with the support of the younger camp groups.
